Today, they currently live in only about 100 headwater streams in Colorado and New Mexico (10 percent of their former range).\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThe yellow-green to gray-brown body is scattered with black spots, with a more heavily spotted tail section.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThe species has declined in recent years due to competition from introduced Rainbow and Brown trout and challenges from climate and land practices.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003ch5\u003eABOUT THE RIO SAN ANTONIO WATERSHED IMPROVEMENT PROJECT:\u003c\/h5\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eIn 2021, Trout Unlimited identified a previously unknown population of Rio Grande cutthroat trout in the Rio San Antonio.
